Week Four—So You Think You're in a Pit?

Thirteen Very Long Years

God brought Joseph to power, second only to Pharaoh in all of Egypt, when he was 30 years old. When we do our math, that means Joseph spent 13 years as a slave and prisoner in Egypt. Thirteen years! The older we get, the less percentage of our lives 13 years is, but still, it is a long time. Thirteen years ago, I was still in my 30s and had yet to write my first Bible study. Where were you 13 years ago?

Thirteen years in Egypt didn't shake Joseph's faith! Although the world seemed to conspire against Joseph on every front, God pulled him out of pit after pit and continually showed him favor. What a God he served, what a God we serve!

As we start our discussion this week, here are a few questions to get us going:

What has been your biggest takeaway from the life of Joseph? How specifically will you apply this in your life?

How can we stand today and be witnesses for truth in a culture that is increasingly built on lies and deception? Reason through this and use specific verses or scriptural examples to support your answer.

Don't forget to make comments on your classmates' posts! If you love what they've said, tell them!
