Bible-Reading Retreat, August 18–20

Set aside the weekend of August 18–20 for an extended time reading God’s Word aloud . . . together!

The Basics:

We’ll meet at my house in suburban Chicago for a weekend in God’s Word—Luke, Acts, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Corinthians, and part of the Psalms! You’ll enjoy the fellowship of other women and a time of quiet away from the noise of the world. No stress, no cooking, no obligations, just time with the Lord and others who love Him.

Lodging:

We can sleep eight in proper beds plus two more in fun chairs that pull out into single beds for a total of ten. If you’re coming in from out of town, plan to stay here. Locals, you can stay here or commute if you prefer.

The Number:

Eight to Twelve

We’ll read in small groups of four or five people per group and switch up groups throughout the weekend.

The Cost:

$100 covers everything. If you can’t swing this much, I have scholarships. Just ask. If you want to give more to help support ongoing ministry, please let me know and I send a link where you can make a tax-deductible donation.

Friday

5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Arrive at your leisure.
(Come before 5:00 and I’ll put you to work!)

6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Dinner by Dave! (Yes, the chef is in the house!)

7:00 – 9:30 p.m. Luke, Part 1

Saturday

6:30 – 7:30 a.m. Early Bird Fellowship

7:30 – 8:00 a.m. Continental Breakfast

8:00 – 11:30 a.m. Luke, Part 2; Acts, Part 1

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch

12:30 – 2:30 p.m. Acts, Part 2; Ruth

4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Judges

[During the afternoon, you can read with the group or choose to spend some quiet time on your own, go for a walk, take a nap . . . whatever is restorative to you. Of course, you are always able to opt out of a reading session is you need a break.]

6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Dinner by Dave!

7:00 – 9:30 p.m. 1 and 2 Corinthians

9:30 – 10:00 p.m. Debrief and Share

Sunday

8:00 – 8:30 a.m. Breakfast

8:30 – 9:45 a.m. Selected Psalms

10:00 a.m. On the road to church!
