Lesson Three: Around the Edges . . . A Father's Influence

When the Wise Choose Foolishness

Solomon's life and example chill me to the bone. When the wisest man ever to live chose to do what was right in his own eyes instead of following God's way, he played the fool and reaped disastrous results for both himself and his nation. Still, while Solomon fell short in his role as the "son of David," God's provided a better, a perfect "Son of David."

I'm reminded of Jesus' words to the scribes and Pharisees when He said, "The Queen of the South will rise up with this generation at the judgment and will condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, something greater than Solomon is here," (Matthew 12:42, NASB). Let's talk about King Solomon today and what we can learn from his life.

What was your biggest takeaway from Solomon's life?

Where are you most prone to rely on your own wisdom? What truth from God's Word do you need to claim instead?

Looking forward to seeing you on the blog soon!

Love ya,
